State Special Olympics Indoor Games

St. Joseph, MO had the amazing opportunity to host over 3000 Special Olympics athletes that competed in Basketball and bowling tournaments throughout the weekend of March 16-18.  The community worked together by providing over 500 volunteers to support the athletes and the competitions throughout the city. Quality Hearing & Audiology Center audiologist, Dr. Pamela Nelson, was able to participate in the Healthy Athletes village in order to assist in health screenings for each athlete that choose to partake.  This is a free service to the athletes that looks at key health needs that many times are neglected.  Athletes were served by dentists, physicians, dietitians, and audiologists. It is such a pleasure to volunteer time to participate in this important screening opportunity for all the athletes.  We look forward to partnering with the Special Olympics throughout the year.  There are many volunteer opportunities for anyone interested in volunteering. If you are interested in volunteering, please feel free to contact us or SOMO.org.
