Introducing Dr. Janice Richbourg
I would like to take a moment to introduce you to our new Audiologist. Dr. Janice Richbourg joined Quality Hearing & Audiology in October after working in a large Ear, Nose and Throat physician office. Dr. Richbourg is a native Texan and graduated with her Doctor of Audiology degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2003. She completed undergraduate coursework at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. When choosing a provider, the experience of the provider is very important. Dr. Richbourg has 16 years of experience diagnosing and treating various types and degrees of hearing loss. She has extensive experience serving the adult population as well as pediatric populations of all ages. (Dr. Richbourg’s youngest patient was diagnosed at 8 weeks of age and fit with hearing devices at 10 weeks of age!) Dr. Richbourg specializes in the fitting and dispensing of digital hearing devices. She has extensive experience with ReSound and Oticon products and is also experienced in the fitting of Phonak, Starkey and Widex hearing devices. She has a strong belief that education and knowledge empower patients to be successful with hearing devices, and she works hard to ensure patients understand their hearing loss, the impact of their hearing loss on their day to day life as well as their options for hearing devices. Many patients reach a point where hearing devices are no longer beneficial and other options must be considered. Cochlear Implants are typically the next step for patients with severe to profound hearing loss and/or very poor understanding of speech with the use of hearing devices. Dr. Richbourg is experienced in the evaluation of cochlear implant candidacy as well as programming cochlear implants from both Cochlear Corporation and Advanced Bionics. Dr. Richbourg’s greatest joy is to see a patient succeed with a cochlear implant after experiencing the frustration of poor speech understanding even with appropriately fitted hearing devices. Outside of the office Dr. Richbourg and her husband Daniel are raising a young daughter who keeps them very busy. Both she and her husband are looking forward to living in Northwest Missouri and exploring a new state. They have already enjoyed the fall temperatures, beautiful fall color and rolling terrain.
